RFID in Action: Airport Security Enhanced With Innovative Technology
How useful are radio frequency identification devices for promoting security? While their use by the jewelry industry speaks volumes about how valuable they are, some suggest the true measure of the value of these devices is the fact that they are trusted to ensure human safety. Increasingly, RFID devices are being employed in the context of airport security. Tech-savvy security management teams are using RFID tags on personnel, equipment and luggage in hopes of reducing the incidence of lost luggage and ensuring that restricted areas and equipment are accessed only by authorized personnel. Additionally, some airlines are monitoring passenger whereabouts for their safety and the safety of others.
RFID-equipped employee badges and uniforms allow airports and airlines to monitor who is accessing what equipment and areas in real-time and can help these organizations track their locations to coordinate emergency responses. And while still in test phase in places such as Nice, France, the IATA , International Air Transport Association, has produced a white paper which points out that passenger safety can be protected with RFID tags in wristbands or badges acting as tickets that must be kept with passengers at all times. These RFID tickets can also promote increased efficiency by allowing airports to better coordinate the flow of boarding and security traffic. This will allow airports to handle larger crowds at a much faster pace than current passengers are accustomed to.
Finally, tagging passenger and crew luggage with RFID devices can help eliminate incidences of lost or stolen baggage. Additionally, RFID scanners can detect which bags should and should not be in certain locations and loaded on to specific planes, improving passenger safety.
Because RFID devices are inexpensive and can be equipped with tamper-detection technology, using these tags and readers can help airports and airlines save money and maintain value for travelers while improving service.

TracTech RFID System Speeds Up Inventory & Fulfillment for Clients
When trying to constantly increase customer satisfaction and improve fulfillment, Lewis of Pink Diamond in LA told us that with the install of his RFID system, he’s made that happen. “Pink Diamond is a high volume operation; before we installed RFID, we spent hours every day in inventory and processing memo orders. With RFID tags, those hours become minutes, and we can focus on delivering high quality order client fulfillment service.” |

MWI Eloquence Implements RFID Initiative
New York Manufacturer and DTC Siteholder, MWI Eloquence, Inc. will implement a state of the art RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) jewelry tag system from TracTech RFID Systems, Inc., manufacturer of RFID systems since 2003. Eloquence will use TracTech RFID throughout its New York headquarters to manage its finished and loose diamond inventory.
Established in 1954, MWI Eloquence first operated exclusively in the industrial diamond business; in 1974 the company branched into the gem diamond business. Since then, MWI Eloquence has grown into a successful diamond and jewelry business group, is a DTC sightholder and Natural Colored Diamond Association founding member with vertically integrated manufacturing and distribution.
MWI Eloquence expects to have TracTech RFID jewelry inventory tag system up and running by February 2012. “We’re excited to be implementing RFID by TracTech, said Leslie Lew, VP of MWI Eloquence; this technology is already in use, tracking high value inventory in a broad group of other industries; Eloquence will be implementing RFID without high cost development or increasing its manpower. Most important, we’ll use it to strategically focus our employees employee time saved towards the delivery of superior sales and service to our clients.”

Growth is generally a function of productivity. Everybody wants more of it, but exactly how are manufacturers getting it done? TracTech recently conducted a survey of its new and existing clients. We’d like to share with you some insights on how our clients are using RFID to improve their business now, and their plans for 2012.
In response to Diamond Dealer requests for a smaller parcel paper/polybag tag, TracTech has introduced the L-7 RFID tag. Small enough to fit mini-certs or single stone parcel papers, the L-7 is available in rolls of 2000. Now with branded designs in a variety of colors. Call for availability.

With many companies comfortable using RFID technology, its use has become widespread and prompted many unique applications. For example, retailers like Walmart have tagged clothing items to track buying behavior and reduce theft. But it’s not just inventory that RFID can keep safe — tire manufacturer Pirelli installs RFID chips into wheels to assess road conditions and friction level; this information is relayed to internal car computers to ensure safe driving.

The only way to truly appreciate TracTech Systems is to see this revolutionary inventory control technology in action. A demonstration will show you how simple it is to exponentially increase the efficiency of your business while improving the accuracy of your inventory. Everyone knows ROI as return on investment, but with TracTech Systems, ROI takes on a whole new definition — Reliable, On-Time Inventory.
